Privacy Policy

Lumina is an AI flashcard app operated by Varshith Hegde (“Lumina”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Lumina mobile app or this website, and why.

Information we collect

  • Account. Name, email address, and a password stored by our auth provider. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google name and email so we can create your session.
  • Study data. Decks you generate or save, card text, ratings (Got it / Almost / Not yet), progress, streaks, and categories you create.
  • Content you send to generate cards. A topic, and optional notes or text extracted from a file you pick. Files such as PDFs are read on your device; we receive the extracted text, not the original file.
  • App usage. We use Google Firebase Analytics for events such as opening screens, generating a deck, or finishing a study session. This can include device and app information.

How we use it

We use this information to:

  • create and keep your account signed in
  • generate flashcards and save your library
  • show progress, streaks, and resume points
  • understand which parts of the app are used, so we can improve Lumina
  • email you a 6-digit code when you confirm your address

We do not sell your personal information.

AI generation

Card generation runs on our server. The topic and any source text you send are passed to our AI provider (Inception Labs, Mercury) to write the cards. Do not paste secrets, passwords, or sensitive personal data into a topic or import.

Who else sees data

  • Supabase — accounts and your saved decks, with access limited to your signed-in user.
  • Vercel — hosts this website and the Lumina API.
  • Google — Google sign-in (if you choose it) and Firebase Analytics.
  • Inception Labs — topic and source text used only to generate cards.

These providers process data on our behalf so the app can run. They are not allowed to use it to market to you for us.

This website

The public pages (home, privacy, terms) are informational. They do not require an account. The app talks to our API with a sign-in token stored on your device, not in a website cookie.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and study data while your account exists. You can sign out in the app at any time. To delete your account and saved decks, email varshithvhegde@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and we will remove them.

Children

Lumina is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

You can use a different email, stop using Google sign-in, or stop using the app. Analytics is used to operate and improve Lumina. For access or correction requests, use the contact below.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page.
